There are times that we have much more stress than other times, but what does that do to our healthy lifestyle plan? I am in the middle of a major merger with my company, I have not been told what my job will be going forward for all of January. This is starting to stress me and make me think of things that are probably not reality. But I have found that I have less motivation to exercise and I become more relaxed with my eating when my life has these stresses. That is one reason why I have not written for a while. Stress can mess with our daily routine.
So, what does our bodies do during stress? “When we encounter something stressful, our nervous system and adrenal glands send signals to the rest of the body to help us think more clearly and be ready for a physical response – should it be required.
This is a basic instinct that we have evolved to help us cope with potentially dangerous situations and is known as the “fight or flight” response.” Read more at: https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ps/stress-nutrition-diet.html
In our daily life, we can become stressed for many reasons, and our bodies’ can reaction the same. With this instinct, our bodies still prepare our minds in this instinctive way and give less priority to other, less urgent, functions. Digestion is one function that has a lower priority during stressful situations. Being aware of how your body works and deals with stress can help you to manage stress and stressful situations. After a stressful phase our body can go into a recovery mode, where increased appetite and food cravings become more noticeable. During this time, our metabolic rate can drop to conserve energy. Being aware of these patterns can help you manage your stress levels and through nutrition and diet you can help your body recover from stressful periods more rapidly and less in negative effects.
What is interesting with this is the fact that eating well, exercising, relaxing, and getting enough sleep is the best remedy for stress. What an interesting dilemma we encounter, stress pushes us to not do the things that help us deal with stress. I look at a healthy lifestyle of eating healthy, exercising, meditating, and just taking care of ourselves is the best method to keep our stress in check. Do not let stress break down your daily habits that help control stress.
From this I fell I need to push harder to maintain my healthy lifestyle and not let stress get the best of me.
